Promoting Wellness

Faith in Action to Serve and Transform (FAST) promotes healthy living and independence by providing volunteer based non-medical support and caregiver services to seniors 60 years and older and others who are homebound, frail, disabled or afflicted with chronic illnesses in the Greater East St. Louis community.

Assisted Transportation provides one-on-one transportation to seniors 60 years and older. Priority is given to medical transportation, but volunteers also provide transportation for business, shopping, recreation and other events. Volunteers receive training and comprehensive screening including criminal background checks.

Information and Assistance assists seniors and persons with disabilities with accessing services and resources that enable them to maintain their independence. Staff help clients access Medicare savings programs, extra help for medication, low income subsidy, Medicare prescription drugs, and open enrollment.

Encouraging Independence

Free Bus Passes and Discount License Plate applications are available so that seniors and persons with disabilities can maintain their independence affordably.

All services are provided by trained staff at no cost but donations are encouraged and accepted.

Circle of Friends

Circle of Friends reduces social isolation for seniors by providing group activities, art programming, and health education. Group sessions last 12 weeks. Seniors determine the type of arts they do and outings they go on.

Promoting Spirituality and Giving

Mission Outreach Reaching Everyone (M.O.R.E.) Program provides support and training to help leaders and congregations fulfill their outreach mission and to become volunteer friendly churches. Using biblical principles that promote Christ's mandate to serve, the M.O.R.E. program focuses on five key areas: 1) spiritual gifts, 2) Christian leadership, 3) church safety during COVID, 4) homebound outreach, and 5) creating a volunteer friendly church.

Telephone Reassurance Calls

FAST Telephone Reassurance program services will enable seniors to remain independent and live in their own homes. Telephone Reassurance helps improve their quality of life by connecting seniors with volunteers who care about their well-being. Through telephone reassurance, older adults are empowered to access medical, social services and take care of personal business. The objective of FAST’s Telephone Reassurance program is to reduce social isolation, promote independence and safety, healthier living, and access to resources.
